  What is the difference between a Webcast and a Podcast?

  A webcast is a digital media streamed, in real-time via a broadband connection.  Webcasts can be delivered from live or from a pre-recorded show, made available for use over broadband.

  Podcasts are pre-formatted downloadable media files, made available in formats suitable for mobile media devices.  SEG currently delivers audio shows, in a downloadable MP3 format, whereas Video podcasts are delivered in windows media format, suitable for playback on a range of Windows Media Compatible devices and software media players.

  Webcasts require the user to have a broadband connection, continuously available throughout the period of the webcast, whereas a podcast can be downloaded to your local computer and/or device, for use where broadband may not be available.
